Our Patroness

Nuestra Señora de la Paz y Buen Viaje

Picture
The Catholic Church has received many titles from the Mother of God, Mary of Nazareth, according to the various apparitions and inspirations were she communicated them to men and women throughout the historic life of the Church. [1]Our Church's name,  Nuestra Señora de la Paz y Buen Viaje,Our Lady of Peace and Safe Journey, is a title for Mary; this special title acknowledges Mary’s intercessory role in relation to her son Jesus Christ, especially concerning those instances of our lives which require the special assistance of Our Lord. The name of Safe Journey denotes the special intercessions for travelers, pilgrims, and others making various treks; this name was added by Bishop Appolinaris Baumgartner, and is also linked to Our Lady of Peace & Good Voyage of Antipolo, Patroness of the Philippines.   Marian devotion is deep-rooted in the island of Guam and our parish community is no exception to this marvelous convention.
